HOW MANY CHIROPRACTORS DOES IT TAKE...
Maybe you've heard the old joke, " How many chiropractors does it
take to screw in a light bulb?". Answer: "Only one but it takes 23
visits!".
It's true that if you've never had any care for your spine and you
find yourself with chronic back or neck pain at age 40, it's going
to take a series of adjustments to get you well. The same analogy
could apply to someone who didn't have dental care for several years
and then found themselves in a dental crisis requiring a root canal,
fillings, and a crown!
Generally speaking, the longer you've suffered with pain, the more
adjustments it will require to correct the problem. The reason why
is that the muscles, ligaments, and nerves of the spine have become
out of balance. For example, the muscles on one side of the spine
might be stronger than the other side and will keep pulling the spine
out of alignment until those muscles have been re-trained through
a series of adjustments. It is critical that you stick to your treatment
schedule or else the muscles will forget their new routine and slip
back into their old, painful patterns.
It can take weeks, months or, in some cases, years until the spine
once again becomes stable and balanced. The sooner you get the problem
adjusted, the less time it takes to correct it. Proper diet, exercise,
and mental attitude will shorten the process.
Once your problem is corrected, periodic performance check-ups of
your spine are as important as your regular dental exams. They catch
problems early and if any are found, those can be taken care of in
a very short time, often just one or two visits.
