How Much Education Does It Take To Become A Chiropractor?
How does chiropractic training compare to the rest of the healthcare field? Many of our patients are surprised to learn that chiropractors are required to pass a 4-year doctorate program that encompasses a minimum of 4,200 classroom hours. In fact, a chiropractor is required to train over 500 hours in anatomy (the study of the structures of the body), over 300 hours in physiology (the study of the processes of the body), over 200 hours in pathology (the study of disease), and over 700 hours of laboratory work. Moreover, chiropractic education actually requires more overall hours than a medical doctor’s education. See the chart below for the specific breakdown of hours.
A recent investigation into the program requirements for both medical and chiropractic school in 2017 reveals that the above chart is still accurate.
